Eddie V's - where excellence is the key ingredient!

Eddie V's has been one of the hottest restaurants in town since their opening a few months ago, and it's well deserved. When I saw that they would be participating in the Queen's Feast aka Charlotte Restaurant Week, the decision was easy. Turns out everyone else had the same idea as reservations filled up quickly, but luckily I was able to grab a spot so off I went!

Located in the heart of uptown, getting to Eddie V's is easy. Expect the typical uptown parking experience, but they do offer valet right in front of the restaurant as well. It's also only a block or so from the light rail station which is always a good option. As you walk into the restaurant, you immediately know this will not be your typical run of the mill dining experience - this will be an exceptional one. The restaurant is stylish and elegant. The staff are stylish and elegant. Even the bar is stylish and elegant. Each detail of the space is well thought out and quite frankly, just stunning. The smooth notes of jazz also surround you as you take it all in. It all meshes so well together that just being inside is a treat. With that being said, we were here to eat, so now it was time to dig in!

Crab & Corn Chowder

To start, I had to try the Crab & Corn Chowder with Lump Crab, Smoked Bacon and Sweet Corn. The chowder was great and had really good depth of flavor. The pieces of crab were delicious and the saltiness of the smoked bacon and the hint of sweetness from the corn added so additional flavor notes that balanced the dish well. Overall a really good chowder and I'd definitely get it again!

24 Karat

With the starter, we also decided to order a drink. With a name like 24 Karat, I had to try it. It features Belvedere Vodka, Grand Marnier Raspberry Peach, Ferrari Brut Rosé, Gold Sugar Rim(of course!). The drink was beautiful and elegant - perfect for a date night or romantic outing. Not only did it look great, it also tasted great. It wasn't overly sweet and had the perfect hit of tartness to balance out the "Gold" sugar. The raspberry came through well without being overbearing.

Bacon Wrapped Filet w/ King Crab

For my main course, I already knew I wanted the steak. An 8oz Center Cut Filet Mignon always hits the spot, so it was a no brainer. However, I was not expecting Eddie V's to also be offering an enhancement(+$15) for the Queen' Feast to get a Bacon Wrapped Filet "Oscar" Style with Alaskan King Crab! Let's just say they had me at bacon and it was well worth it. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium and was absolutely delicious. On top of the steak were lumps of amazing king crab. All of this paired with a Béarnaise sauce and a side of asparagus and you have a little piece of Heaven on a plate. I also had some of their White Truffle Mashed Potatoes which great! They were seasoned well and had slight garlic notes coming in at very end of each bite. Well done - no pun intended.

Butterscotch Panna Cotta

I'd never had Panna Cotta before so I was happy to see it featured on the menu. It is served at Eddie V's with Salted Caramel Walnut Pralines, and Biscotti. The dish was beautiful and tasted great. The texture was perfect and pralines add nice texture to the dish. It also wasn't overly sweet which I liked. This was a great introduction into Panna Cotta!

Bananas Foster Butter Cake

So, yeah! This is easily one of my favorite desserts that I've had in my short time in Charlotte so far. Bananas Foster is always a super cool dessert as they light it on fire right in front of you, and the presentation at Eddie V's was as great as I would expect it to be. After the fire show, I dug in and it was a treat indeed. The cake was soft and buttery, and notes of cinnamon came through perfectly. The Butter Pecan ice cream paired perfectly with the warm cake and had the perfect amount of sweetness. I'll be coming back for this dessert!

Eddie V's is an experience, and a great one at that. Every detail, from the building, to the food, to the staff, is carefully constructed to make your experience great.  You can expect to spend quite a bit of money here as it is on the expensive side, but it is the perfect special occasion spot. The staff was wonderful and very attentive, and each dish was prepared with care. You can really see that Eddie V's has a great attentional to detail, and elegance of the restaurant make it one of my favorite places in Charlotte already. Like and share below.
