Cheeseburger Tacos! Taco Tuesday has a twist at Tijuana Flats!

A cheeseburger taco?! How does that even work you might ask. Well I'm here to tell you! I recently visited Tijuana Flats Ballantyne location for a Yelp event to try their cheeseburger tacos. Apparently they had this dish previously and it was now brought back by popular demand, so I was not missing out this time. After driving through a monsoon to get there(#FoodMustPrevail), I arrived and immediately sat down with the group. We learned a little about Tijuana Flats and how they got started, some of the great charitable donations, and learned about some of their food. I loved the decor here and the local touch of the post-apocalyptic Ballantyne mural on the wall of the main dining area! Super cool!

Chips & Dip(trio)

We started out with their chips and dip trio. This included some fresh salsa, queso, and guacamole. They were all actually really well done, but the queso stole the show for me. It was delicious! The chips were perfect as well. They were crispy and very well seasoned! I'd order this again for sure for a starter.

Queso Fries

Next up we had some fries with queso. Once again, the queso here is great(just give me a gallon of it please!) so of course this was tasty as well. The fries were cooked really well and the queso took them to another level. They also add a bit of the seasoning that they use on their chips here which made them even better.

Cheeseburger Tacos

It's a burger! It's a Taco! It's both! The taco is exactly as it sounds. It has all of the fixins' of your standard burger, but in taco form! The taco includes ground beef, queso, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, ketchup and mustard. It is a cool twist on the traditional taco for sure. Did it absolutely wow me enough to want it over traditional tacos? No, but if I ever want a taco with a twist this is definitely an option. I think next time I would get it without the pickles as they overpowered the other flavors, but overall it was good. They actually do remind you of eating a cheeseburger which is a bit odd and cool at the same time.

Cookie Dough Flautas

These were the star of the night for me. Not only were they nice to look at, they tasted as good as they looked. I love cookie dough everything, so these quickly were added to my favorite desserts list! This dessert has cookie dough loaded into a flour tortilla and lightly fried and topped with powdered sugar. Woweee! This was GOOD! And that is before you even dip them in the chocolate syrup that it comes with. Another order please!

We had such a great time at Tijuana Flats trying all of the dishes and hearing about the company. They seem to really care about what they are doing there and the food reflects it. I can't wait to go back to try more dishes!
